hello all, new guy here. I have an 873 f-series that I use with a Danuser post driver. The post driver manual says to put the lift arms in float once you have the post positioned where you want it. So my question is: can you put the arms in float with the arms lifted in the air. I tried putting it in float by pushing down against the post but no go. What am I doing wrong? All i do is lift the front end off the ground. Thank you.

Pushing your toe all the way forward should engage it.... It is possible the balls/spring has rusted up. What happens if you have the arms down and push your toe all the way forward, does it click?
It could also be that the pedal needs adjusting because you can't tilt it forward far enough to engage float.

I'm in the same boat. Plowing my driveway today made me realize how much I miss the float function. My detent is stuck, pushing the pedal all the way forward just tries to pick the front of the machine off the ground instead of floating the boom. Whats involved in fixing this?

It should be a spring and two balls that are inside a housing at the rear of the spool on the control block. I don't know it's exact setup for your machine, but on others there is an alloy cover that you remove, there is then a cover that you remove, just watch the balls and spring don't fly out. Putting them back in can be a pain as they want to fly out at you, parts are available from the dealer though.
