864 won't start and won't power down

864 with a strange electrical problem. Turn key to on position get LCD hour meter plus glow plug indicator and also ! warning light. Glow plugs finish, ! warning is still on. Turn key to start with no impact. Turn key to off, the ! warning goes out but hour meter LCD stays on. Pull negative battery cable for a few seconds, hour meter LCD goes off and stays off.

It's now stuck in an annoying spot. All advice, hints, or questions will be gratefully received.

That does not mean nothing! I am talking about a real Battery Test, where the cells get tested.

Battery is fine. Problem seems to be in the ignition switch. More later.

Credit where due, Bill from BC Bobcat Repair found the problem. Next time I'll try harder before calling in the experts.

That harness is repairable. Just a matter of opening it up and splicing the broken wires.
