I have a 863 with an oil cooled Deutz turbo diesel that is now an oversized paper weight due to a hole in the block. After searching for months now, the reality of spending around $8K for a re-manned engine seems inevitable. My question... has any one ever converted over from the Deutz to a more traditional Kubota or is it even possible?

Anything is possible, but it may cost too much to do.
The same powered Kubota would be something like a V3300, turbo.I have an S250 that runs this engine. I don't thienk the cheap V2203 easy to find engine will have the power to run it.
I wonder if you would be able to get a short block and use your old head/turbo to save a few dollars
