I have an 853 bobcat and it does everything it's supposed to do well, except that when you press the left pedal down the boom raises slowly..............or at least as far as I can press on it with my long legs! I'm REALLY tall so my body's geometry isn't conducive to running one of these things very well with the foot controls and I think that the pedal just needs to be adjusted, because everything else works great - even the boom "down" function. The only problem I'm having is when I want to raise the boom. Am I right about this, and what do I need to take apart to access the pedal linkage??

Do both pedals feel even when you have your feet on them or does your left foot feel like it's at more of an angle? There are two carriage bolts down below the pedal that you can loosen to adjust how the pedal is positioned. I'd hit the nuts with some PB Blaster for a day or so then try to break them loose and adjust if needed. Another thing you might want to do is time the boom from all the way down to all the way raised and report back with that time.

Yeah - that's kind of how it feels. I can press it in the "down" position and the boom goes down alright but when I use my the heel it's hard to make the boom go up. I was thinking that I'd have to take the inspection plate off first and adjust the linkage rod? Thanks for the tip. I have some of the new WD40 lube stuff and will try that tomorrow, if it's a little warmer outside. I had a good call on it tonight and might have it sold!! The machine is on the Quad Cities (Iowa) Craigslist, if anyone is interested and I'll assist with shipping if necessary.
