853 hyd problem

Neighbors early 90"s 853 is in my garage with a problem. He plowed snow one day with it and the next went to use it the boom was up off the ground and when he started it he can lift the boom but the bucket cyl extends at the same time and he cannot lower the boom unless he shuts the machine down. the bucket tilt does not respond to the pedal at all with the machine running. when he lifts the boom with slight pedal pressure it goes up normally and with more pedal pressure it slows down. Reading past threads on this I would think it is either aux hyd trouble or anti cavitation valve or port relief. The aux hyd lights do not come on at all when the button is pushed. I have not gotten into this yet but they said the port relief looked ok and the anti cavitation did also. Any ideas would be appreciated jerry

Sounds like his aux is constant on. Probably the valve stem under the coil is stuck. That's my guess.

Try putting a loop hose on the front quick couplers. The aux hydraulic to these couplers may be stuck on. looping the couplers together will make it function normally if that is the trouble.
Then you can start trying to figure out why.

Ken-what can I say?.......=).
I'm not sitting here waiting and trying to be the first responder, but it's kinda slow for me, the weather and economy sucks, and this is one of my favorite sites. It's snowing like mad and I ain't had a job in a week.......=(. I'm sure glad my wife's rich......er....has a job.
The loop hose idea is great.

sounds like me -20 or colder for the last 2 weeks, done our contracts, just putting things throught the shop to see what might need fixed next year, (if we get a contract, so only cheap repairs yet).
If it wasn't for getting in mountains of fire wood, feeding the stove and chasing the snow flakes back I'd be unemployed too. I did have a guy come look at one of my loaders, he is tired of shoveling, wants to trade a 8n Ford tractor though. Any idea what a 8n is worth in good condition? Not much to me I think..
Good thing our wives are not into skidsteers, would be tougher on the cash flow

Thanks to you guys the problem is solved. We put a loop hose on the aux fittings and all was fine so we removed the two small solenoid valves under the aux control valve and they have a filter screen on them about in the middle. One of them the filter screen was broken and pieces missing. We then started the machine up for just a couple seconds with the valves out to flush anything we could out of the valve body. Then put the solenoid valves back in and it works good. He will still have to buy one new valve to replace the broken screen one and the lights on the display still don't work but he does not use the aux hyd anyway. Thanks again, jerry
