Just purchased an Old 843 this month, and have a couple of questions. Has the TK200 Perkins (ZA stamped on side ). Is the ZA engine larger than the 4.154? The red light (trans warning light ?) on the right flickers, until I increase the throttle, then will go out. Where does the trans warning red light get its signal? The red light on the left goes out when started (Oil light?). I found out that I do not have an oil cooler under the radiator. Could this be a problem? It's only used for on 5 acres of flat land, light duty. Thanks for all your help so far. Great Forum

Both are model 4.154 engines, the series 200 is a later version. Both are 54 hp.
The sender for the trans warning is on the filter block. It depends on your serial number what pressure the switch turns off the light. Could be that someone replaced it with wrong switch.
It really should have the oil cooler put back in the system.

Thanks OldMachinist. I did not notice the missing oil cooler, when I bought it. Above the oil filter are two pipes that are open. Should I put an oil cooler on it like I had on my VW sand rail (Dune Buggy)? The motor runs great. Thanks for the fast reply, Jerry from SO CA 1952 (8N restored) & 1940 (9N restored) . Great Forum

I found your serial number in another post. Here's a link to the hydraulic system flow info.

I have an Isuzi engine in my 843, but assume its pretty similar. There are two pressure senders and one temp sender involved with the trans warning light. Have the hydraulic filters been changed lately? If you don't know then change them (but not cheap). One of the pressure senders is for "filter plugged".
