Message: <blockquote data-quote="jmatt20" data-source="post: 4156" data-attributes="member: 186"><p>engine number two had cracks that were pinned and welded but it finnally gave up the ghost. i was looking for a head when i found a guy that had two used engines out of marine gen sets. he wouldn't sell me a head but he said i could have an engine for 650$. at the time i had found a bare head in florida for 1100$ so i thought 650 was a deal. when i got to his shop he tried to sell me both of the engines for 1000$total but......nooooo.. iwas too smart for that..lol....wish i had that spare now. the gen sets were set to run at 1500 rpms so i had to have the pump recalibrated to 2500 rpm .so these engines were just idleing along for thier previous life ,they had heat exchangers on the gen sets so no salt water in the water jacket and they wern't that old.. the salt air eats up the generator part of the gen set way faster than the engine. my brother is taking the head down to grand junction tomorrow to find out if they can pin and weld it.... i feel bad about unloading my 843 on him just before it takes a dump so i 'm trying to do what i can to help out. lesson ..don't lend your machine to someone who wont take care of it like thier own...</p></blockquote><p></p>
