So I was looking around in the chassis under the ROPS and found some loose wires (one was frayed). There's three that come off the harness as a group and I've ID them as the hydraulic pressure sender wires and a cab ground. There's two more loose further down the harness but I'm wanting to get all the gauges and warning lights working on this machine so I'm looking for the pressure sender. Oddly enough, in the position that the manual shows, there's a tee but no sender. Could a PO had that removed? Also, what function does the cab ground serve in the gauges? The wiring diagram shows that jumping from gauge to gauge after coming up from the chassis. If that's loose would that prevent the gauges from working properly? The amp gauge is working, engine oil pressure warning is good, hydraulic oil pressure warning not functional (duh), fuel gauge not working (sender bouncing around in the bottom of the tank) and I just replaced both the water temp gauge and sender.

Are the gauges back lit? If so, that could be what the ground wire is for.
The gauges are back lit. I think the new water temp is working. It finally came off the lowest point yesterday when I was pushing a brush pile. The weather has been so cool and I cleaned the cooling coils, it hasn't moved much. But that's a good thing!

I wonder if your thermostat is stuck open. When I first got my new holland it never got very warm so I got a infrared thermometer from harbor freight and found the temp was the same above and below the thermostat. Changed it out and it warms up to operating temp in just a few minutes. I think the thermometers were on sale recently for 30 bucks. Handy thing to have around.

I didn't think about the thermostat but that definitely sounds like a possibility. Stuck open is good for summer though. I'm going to keep a close eye on coolent temps. I had the blades on the blower fan cut down and may have suppliment cooling with electric fans. We'll see when I start clearing brush in 90+ degree weather.

An easy test for the thermostat is to start it up from cold, grab hold of the top radiator hose just above the thermostat housing. See if it warms up with the head. If the engine is nice and hot and the hose is still cold, the thermostat is closed. If it warms up, it is stuck open.
