Message: <blockquote data-quote="Dutch" data-source="post: 74426" data-attributes="member: 10577">I'm Bryan, and  I'm a new member of the forum.  I bought a used Bobcat 843 Skid Steer with 54 HP 4-cylinder Perkins diesel that I have used less than a year when this problem occured.   It is probably an early 80's model.  I searched the forum for similar electrical problems and found RW's problem.   My problem is similar to his.  I have no electrical current to my starter or my instrument panel.    I opened the rear engine compartment and found a small green electrical wire attached at one end and loose at the other end.  So I fiddled around with the loose end of the wire and touched the loose end of it to the positive post of the battery and the solenoid clicked.  Then,  I went up to the cab, turned the key to the left for the glow plugs, and then turned the key to the right to start it, and no power.  So again, I touched the loose end of the wire to the positive post of the battery and the solenoid clicked.  I returned to cab to start it, this time turned the key to the right to bypass the glow plugs, and it started and I let it run for awhile.  I turned it off and I tried starting it again, and I had no power to the key and no power to the instrument panel.  So again I touched the end of the wire to the positive post of the battery, after doing this a number of times the solenoid would not click.  So I replaced it with a new solenoid. After installing new solenoid, I checked both fuses on the control panel and they were good.  I raised the cab ROPS and checked the connectors and found no bad wires.   I took the battery out, added water to all cells, recharged the battery, cleaned the posts and cable connectors. In the process of removing and replacing the solenoid the attached end of the green electrical wire broke off and I didn't see where it broke off from. I now have a 12 inch green electrical wire disconnected from both ends and I don't know where this wire goes.  I am back to square one, with no power to the starter and no power to the control panel, with a loose green electrical wire that has got to go somewhere to make connection so I have power again.  If anyone out there has a similar model would you please check yours and tell me where the ends of this green electrical wire attach.   I'm admittedly not saavy with electrical issues and I do not have an electrical meter.
