Hi Guys, I have a problem. I hope it's nothing major. Earlier, I was taking a round bale of hay out to my Cows. In the middle of doing so, it "bogged" like it was going to die. Then, it came back up, so I kept using it. Then, it did it again. It sorta felt like it was running out of fuel (diesel) but It had about a 1/3 of a tank. I've never had this happen before, and it freaked me out. I used it quite a bit yesterday - no problem at all. It has about 2800 hours on it. What does this sound like to you guys? -Bob

i'd be its the fuel pickup tube in the tank rotted and fell off in tank
Replace the fuel filter, its the easiest thing to eliminate and most often the cause of a rough running engine. There is a possibility of the fuel itself depending on if its cold where you live.

I have heard of a bad drive belt causing this problem. I'd do as others suggested and change your fuel filter then I'd take a look at your drive belt.

All good avdise. Start there, if it does it again, then look deeper.

REALLY easy way to test fuel pickup tube is to put a full tank of fuel in the machine. If the problem goes away but comes back as the tank gets lower, you just found your problem.

Help! So......Just for the heck of it, I went and topped off the fuel. Bobcat ran great......no issues at all. Then, I went ahead and replaced the filter (w/Bobcat Brand Fuel filter). The sucker won't start at all. I know it's some sort of fuel issue. What can I try? P.S. - Please keep it simple. I'm no major mechanic. This all occurred after I changed the fuel filter.

Did you re-prime the fuel system after the filter change?
There should be a screw on the injector pump, loosen it, then squeeze the hand primer bulb till you can feel it's firm and bubble free. Close the screw and start the machine.

If there are any Videos, or ultra simplistic instructions on how to do this....please post. I am a very novice mechanic. Sorry.....but in 3.5 years (approx. 250 hours) have never had to do anything to this except an oil change. It currently has 2900 hours. Has always run perfect.

Thanks Tazza. The wifester yanked our owners manual (imagine that!) and I followed along. I bled out to the filter, then the injection pump. Started right up! I'm a Pro at this now! Thank you all very much. My Cows now have their round bale, and are very happy.
