773 how to coolant flush

I have been reading a lot of bits of forums and am looking for a few good tips and details on how to do a good coolant flush . Where to drain at? and where to hook into with a garden hose to force a flush ? My coolant is brownish and old I bought machine like this recently. Please post any info that can be helpful , thanks .

I just changed out the left radiator hose this week (was rubbing against the intake hose, watch for this folks!). The manual sez to drain the block and radiator at the block drain located on the rear of the engine. Look just above the fuel filter and oil pressure switch for a drain cock. The manual sez the cooling capacity is about 2 gallons. When I refilled, I only got a little over a gallon into the top of the radiator and a scant half gallon into the overflow reservoir. I haven't yet run it long enough to get it through a few hot/cool cycles to see how much the engine/rad will suck up from the reservoir, so there may still be air bubbles in the system. I didn't try to flush. And I always use the Bobcat propylene glycol purple antifreeze. Best I can do. ---Bobbie-G

You may try to flush it with a hose inserted in the radiator and an open block drain. Take great care not to let the hose out too hard, water should not splash out of the radiator, there is a hose on the air filter nearby, and if water gets into it, it can damage the engine badly. There are also special liquids to flush the system, but I have never tried with them. I'm just afraid to put something aggressive cleaner in the engine to not damage the head gasket , O ring on engine front cover and engine water hoses. Typically, this wash cleans a lot, but always remains a slight brown hue in the cooling liquid if the block has begun to rust.

ok I found a drain for the coolant in the oil filter housing located under the engine oil filter. A good way to flush i found was to take off radiator hose at thermostat and rig up a garden hose to that 1-1/4 hose and back flush the radiator and block that way i then unhooked the heater core lines and flushed them seperately from the block and when doing both i flushed till clear water was coming out .
