Hi all, Wondering if anyone can help, have just got a 763G with one of its rear wheels torn from the axle causing some damage to the axle itself. Have been onto Bobcat over here and they are saying they can't find a replacement, not that they have seen the damage so far so getting the impression they aren't really interested in the repair. Has anyone got the technical details of the axle they could let me have, length, neck width etc so I can try to get the one sitting on the machine rebuilt by a metal fabricators over here. Thanks in advance for any help, Jon

Exactly what has been damaged on the axle? Worst case, you can take any other axle out to use as a sample, they are all the same.
Surely axles are still available, they have parts for machines twice the age of a 763.

Hi Tazza, It looks like the bearing was ripped up taking the top section of the axle casing that holds the bearing out leaving the rear bearing collar in place and undamaged. I thought the same regarding the parts, apparently the parts aren't available, and when I mentioned getting the tech specs so I could get one re-manufactured I was told Bobcat U.S would not have the info on a 22year old machine, as I said seems they only want to sell new machines or the machines in their used stock. Was thinking of contacting a U.S parts supplier if the axle is beyond repair.

I'd try another dealer, see what they have to say.
So, the bearing failure took the axle tube out too? or is that still ok? There was a member on here that got a machine that had really bad damage to an axe tube, the outer part was so damaged, a new piece was made and welded on.
Can you get any pictures? If we can see the damage, we can give better advise.
If you can't post them, look up my profile and my email address will be there.

I'm thinking another dealer as well, the nearest one to me went under a year ago, so this other is the only one in the south of England. For something like this I always like to use main dealer as opposed to independent plant guys. Have sent you some pictures of the damage as no idea how to upload pics here. Thanks Jon

Do you have equipment salvage yards there? You could find a machine that has been scrapped and remove the axle and tube and reinstall on your machine

Hi Farmshop, Trying that approach at the mo, with little success, was even thinking of trying to get the whole chain case and rebuild the machine, but that is more of a long term project. Even asked the bobcat dealer if a 753 axle would fit in place, after a little while he came back and said it would so trying that too, Thanks Jon

Have you tried Lloyd Ltd. in Carlisle for Bobcat parts? They have been helpful for me.

Hey BC873G, Will send them a mail in a mo. Have been pressure washing it off today, was head to toe in pig mess, the pins on the bobtach have sized in place, the battery tray was filled with pigs c%&p. Really amazes me when someone spends thousands on a machine and then doesn't even bother doing the basics. Pins were dry as a bone, only things not covered in straw and s@#t.

how can a 753 axle fit on a 763? they use the same rims and a 763 is 6" wider.

I agree with Tom. A 753 would be shorter. A 773 on the other hand would work. If worse comes to worse could you import one from the states? Farm rite equipment in dassel Minnesota parts out machines and they would know what interchanges or the best way to fix your problem

Apparently the 753 and 763 half shafts are the same length. If that is right or not I couldn't say, only going on what the dealer has told me, but I was suspicious when I did ask about it, saying I thought the 763 was longer then the 753 and the dealer told me no the frames are all the same size, small, medium or large? Tried to get in touch with a few dealers over in the states but no one has come back yet so might have to look into Farm Rite Equp. At the same time trying to get hold of a metal fab company close by to see about machining half a new axle and weld it up as has been done in one of the threads on here Tazza pointed me too. As soon as this machine is up and running going to refurb my 641, shes long overdue one.

I agree with "farmshop". I was at the bobcat dealer last week he was referring to ( Farm Rite) they have alot of parts machines in their inventory.

I googled them this morning and mailed them, waiting to hear back, even said I'd consider a complete chain case. Not ideally what I'm after but if thats what it takes thats what has to happen.

im not clear here. im wit tazz. thinking the ax tube got damaged probaaly outer, wont take a race? if this be the case it can be fixed. ax surgeons. the cut off about 8 inches weld on new tube line bore. good to go

Finally found a dealer who has experience of doing this job as a complete repair rather then a metal fabricator to make up the axle and the dealer to do the rest. I know it could save a few £, but at least when I turn up to get the machine there can't be any finger pointing, when the axle was made up it was 2 inches sort etc etc. 7lbs, I was thinking it would be a common repair, but most dealers over here seem to be scared off, the dealer I've found to take this on is over 200 miles away. The nearest one wanted to cut the whole axle out of the chain case and weld a complete one in. Think it was in the hope I would go for a new machine to be honest.

that's why we hire an outside, welder dude they do it all the time. they be insured. if its wrong they fix it. we assamble all they do is cut tube weld and line bore. and they are good last one I had in needed three ax done , priced a chain case, WOW $ now keep in mind we ended up with new axles brgs races sprockets chains rebuilt carriers etc, but well under the cost of new case which would of required the above mentioned parts anyway, really what we are dealing with these days is these units aren't being made any more. if you drop 6 to square away and keep squared away. once the intial investment is made the rest is maint (hence why it failed in first place) or lack of.
