763 w/ BOSS - no start - electrical

OK guys, I have a 763 with a Boss system. It was running fine a few days ago - but when I went to start it today - nothing - notta - The panels do not light up - the fuel relay doesn't activate - nothing. I punch in the code - and nothing happens. I checked the Battery - lots of juice available. i looked at fuses - they are all good! i tried to look it up in my electronic copy of the FSM - and it gives me a "expired, use newer version from Bobcat!" So where do I need tio start? any ideas? - when this happened to my non boss 763 it was the started fuse - but that is not the case here! carl Johansson

I would check the ground cable where it attaches to the engine,also the pos. cable where it attaches to the starter. Mike

Can you swap batteries just to be sure? even if it has a charge doesn't mean its ok. Batteries these days can just die....
My knowledge of BOSS systems is limited but i do have a 753 with a BOSS system. Its a good idea as Mike stated to check all your connections from the battery to starter. I would even check the connections at the BOSS box, they are pretty tight and shouldn't give any troubles but with vibrations you can never tell.

It sounds like you have keyless ignition. Is this a BOSS system or a G Series machine?
If you use jumper cables from the battery to the starter will it crank?

Thanks for the help guys. I could jump it and hold the fuel solenoid open and it would run. I tracked it to a faulty combination pad. replaced it with the old keyed switch - 4 wires - just had to determine what color of wire went to each post - fired right up - good as new! Carl Johansson
