So the other day I was going along playing with this skid steer and in mid travel it just stoped dead in its tracks and shut off. It starts right back up and was fine then it started doing it more and more. Some times it won't let you move at all after starting back up. Have noticed that there is a black box to your right when sitting in machine that all lights are no lit up. Always thought they had to be lit up. Thanks in advance!

First off, what sort of 763 do we have here? Does it have an LCD screen or just the round meters? The "black box to your right": is that a box on the rear wall behind the operator's right elbow? If so, that's a BICS box (Bobcat Interlock Control System), and it indicates you have an earlier 763 before computer control (most of us here on this forum think a non-computer machine is a good thing!). There should be several green LEDs on it. One of them is power, which should come on when the key switch is turned on. Then there are seat and lap bar LEDs, plus lift/tilt and another which escapes me at the moment, maybe traction. If none are illuminated when the key switch is on, then power is missing to that box. Far as I know, loss of power to that box will not turn off the machine though. If indeed you have no LEDs illuminated on that box with the key switch on, then there's a fuse or wiring issue. On the earlier 763s, the fuses are in the engine compartment on the lower right as you look at the engine from the rear. They are inside two plastic cubical housings (looking like large relays). Slip the retaining clips off the covers, pull the covers off and you'll see fuses inside. On the rear door adjacent to the fuse holders, there should be a fuse legend saying what each fuse if for. There is also a 100amp master fuse just above the battery. If that master fuse has a loose or corroded connection, that would perhaps explain things. :-) ---Bobbie-G

I'm with Bobbie-G, the BICS bix only controls safety interlock and aux hydraulics, it will not shut the engine down. For the lights to be out, i suspect a fuse or wiring issue, like Bobbie said. Fuses and the holders do corrode.

I have the one with the gauges. When it shuts off it seems like it hydraulically stalls itself I will check those fuses and get back to you. Thanks
