763, no start

hey everyone, I've got a bobcat 763 that won't start. I just put a new battery and muffler on it and it has started fine a few times. I've worked with it a little in a small snow storm we had. Today I started it to move it away from my trailer and then turned it off while I hooked my trailer up to the truck. When I went to start it again to load it, it wouldn't start. It made the loud click/clunk sound like it usually does when I turned the key to 'run', but the oil lights didn't come on and nothing when I turn the key to start. the BICS lights don't come on either. I'm thinking it is the seat sensor as the seat is in rough shape, but is there any thoughts on what I should check? Thanks in advance. -Mike

Check the battery conections on both ends, it sounds like a bad ground.

Ok, I'll check this. I cleaned the terminals/connections on the battery, but not the other end of the ground. I'll pull and clean it. Anything else I should check? I'm headed back out there today to work on it (it's sitting in a parking lot 30 min away). thanks.

The next things would be the relays back in the engine compartment below the air cleaner. Try swapping one of the other relays for the switched power one.

Worse case tie the fuel shutoff solinoid to run, cross the starter solinoid and see if it runs.
You may have to lift the cab and remove the brake soilinoid on the top of the chain case near the front. Then pull the rod up in the center that the solinoid covered and put a hose clamp around it to hold the brake off. The hopefully you can load it up with the loader boom down.
At least you will be fighting with it at home.

I know I can't load it with the bucket down because it runs right into my trailer ramps going forward and drags the bucket, stopping me, when loaded backwards. I am hoping it is a bad ground. Headed out soon and will let you know. Thanks!

Well, I took the ground cables apart, cleaned and hooked back up. Still nothing. Took the relays and switched the brake one with the switch power and nothing. Then I got in the seat and jumped up and down. It worked, so I guess I will be replacing the seat sensor before it leaves me stranded again. In looking around, I found another contact switch on forward reverse arms was broken off. it was located under the seat on the movement controls that go towards the back. The bobcat seemed to work fine with out it. Is that for a reverse beeper or something?

Check for trash built up uinder the seat not allowing it to go down all the way.
Bobcat sells a kit to eliminate the seat switch. Install it and you never have to mess with seat switch again.
The switch on the steering arm would have been for a back up alarm.
