HI All I have developed a sudden hydro oil leak. Right before it started to leak the machine jolted and froze up. It was like the safety break suddenly engaged. I turned the machine off and started it again and dis-engaged the break. Worked fine but I then noticed the leak. Anyone have this happen to? Can you point me in the right direction of what happened? Thanks!

Please give us the first 7 digits of the machine serial number so we know what generation of machine you have. Also a general location of where the oil is coming out would help.

Its 5122257 I believe its a 1997 763 G The oil is leaking directly under the engine. Thanks for the response! BY the way, what does the G mean? what differences does that machine have with a F for example?

Serial number makes it pre-G. G series started with 512250001.
G series has more electronic controls, operators cab design changed. You tell a G series by looking at the front lights, they are triangle shaped on the G.
If your machine has the “Boss” controller it may have sensed a low pressure condition which caused the sudden shut down.
I'd start by lifting the cab and look for a hydraulic hose with a rubbed section. You may have to wash it down under there and then restart it to see where exactly the leak is coming from.

Check the drive motor hoses including the crimp fittings if the brake did engage the pressure. Spike could take out a hose.
