I just purchased a used 763 bobcat. After running it for an hour or so, I noticed a dummy light on the panel (bottom far right) indicating what I believe is high oil level and the machine rpm's were up and down and it bogs down and stalls. If someone has a manual can you check to see what the dummy light is indicating. The light is btoom right on the panel. Any sugestions on what to do. Thanks for your help.

There were several versions of the 763 made. Do you know what series you have? If it has triangular headlights it is a G series, which has a shutdown protection system dependent on several sensors. If it has square headlights it is an F series, which had a shutdown system as an option, but used a digital display instead of idiot lights. Anyways, there are no sensors for high or low oil levels, just pressures and temperatures. When you say it bogs down and stalls, does the engine quit (fuel issue most likely) or does the machine run but not move(main drive belt issue)?

The machine must be a G series, it has traingular lights. After running the machine for an hour or so, the dummy light came on then thats when the trouble stared. When you set the throttle at a desired setting then go to move forward or back or use the foot pedals to control the bucket the rpms drop off to almost a stall condition and sometimes it did stall. When it drops off, if you stop moving and stop using the bucket the rpm's come back up to normal. Even just moving forward and not using the bucket it would try to stall. Any ideas?? I do not think it is a fuel problem, simply because when it trys to stall, if I stop the rpms come back. Thanks!

Is this what your panel looks like. The botom right light means the hydraulic filter is clogged.

You do have diesel (not gas) in the tank right?? Have you checked the water separator on the fuel filter? When the problem occurs check to see if the fuel primer bulb near the filter is collapsing, if so you probably have a plugged pickup tube. Also check that the thumb wheel on the injector pump is closed. It is probably getting enough fuel to run well when not under a load, then starving when you work it?? One of the buttons on the left dash panels should say "hold for codes", I believe the light switch. When the dummy light is on, hold the button for a few seconds and a 4 digit code should show in the hourmeter, or it will say none if there are none. If the owners manual is still behind the seat you can look up the code there to see what the fault is.

The primer bulb is not collapsing. I still don't think it's a fuel problem.I checked the code and it reads 02-17. I do not have a list of codes so not sure what that code is. After reading some other responses, I'm guessing its a blocked hydraulic filter. Would this cause it to bog down and stall?

2-17 is hydraulic charge filter plugged.

OldMachinist, I appreciate your help. Do you know if that condition would cause the machine to bog down?
I can't say for sure that it would but if there's no bypass in the filter then the oil has no place to go and would stall it. Changing the filter would be the place to start.
