Hello all, first time owner of a skidsteer. Bought it at liquidation sale recently and needs some tlc but runs really well and love it. Already used it for some back breaking projects around my property. Anyhow, one of the things it needs is a new seat. The old one was just laying in the cab not attached to the tracks which are rusted out and no good. I bought a new seat from ebay recently and now I am working on the cleaning the dirt and junk out from under the old seat but the problem is that it looks like I will need to cut the old tracks and bolts out with an angle grinder and drill new holes for the new seat and track. Just my initial thoughts but does anyone else have any expert advice? Is there an easier way to do this? Maybe raise the operator cab or something? I know just enough to be dangerous :) -Rick
 
i've wondered this as well. my 643 is rusted in place, i can't get it to move at all. i think you can flip up the cab and unbolt it from underneath, so you don't have to cut the bolts.

Yeah I am thinking tomorrow I will try and flip the cab up and see what I can figure out. I think just two bolts in the front and it should flip back toward the engine bay from what I read around the internet. Maybe we will get someone who has done it before to post. Maybe someone even has a manual they can share for me to look at :)

You're on thr right track. Remove to two bolts that are holding the front of the ROPS down. Be carefull when you first lift the ROPS (a second person is adviseable) there could be wires that need to be disconnected to open it all the way. Be sure to tie back the ROPS for safety, it is heavy and will crush you if not carefull. You will find four nuts holding the seat on. That's it, remove the bolts and the seat will come out. Hopefully you bought a seat with the tracks. The tracks get full of crud and the bearings rust and get worn. While you are in there you may want to clean out the pump compartment and look for any leaks. Also, I believe that there is a spot to grease the left control arm and, if you are realy fealing like having some fun, you could try to grease the u-joint behind the pump. When you are complete make sure to bolt the ROPS back down.

thanks all. Happy to report new seat is in and looks good. I will have to go back in and check the pump compartment soon and check that grease zerk behind the pump. I read this after I bolted everything down and finished. Just raising the cab allowed me to access everything I needed. Fortunately I did buy the seat with the tracks so I just matched up the bolt holes and good to go now.

There are no grease nipples behind the pump on this model, only the older ones with the engine and pump inline have them on the U joints.
