753F fuel problem

Hi all this morning my 175F started running funny. It started up fine but after several minutes started to die. It would barely stay running long enough to park it and would rev up and down as if it was starved for fuel. I added 5 gallons of fuel and some fuel antifreeze thinking the line or filter were iced up but this has not solved the problem. It still starts just fine but runs out of fuel quickly. It seems the longer it sits, the longer it runs. Any ideas? Thanks

Is the primer bulb going flat? It could be a blocked pickup or gelling on the fuel if its cold there. Have you changed the fuel filter too?
I agree that it sounds like its a fuel problem, when they starve they just rev really low then finally die. Can you open the door when its running badly and pump the primer bulb? see if the revs jump back up. It could be a weak lift pump too i guess.

Its around 10 deg F here so the bulb is very stiff and shows no sign of going flat. The filter was changed less than 200 hours ago. I will hit everything with the heat gun this morning to see if there is any ice in the lines and to try to soften the primer bulb. Thanks

Ok, when I warmed up the bulb it did indeed collapse, so I pulled the pickup line out of the tank and it had some gunk on it. I dont know if I can get one right away, so I am thinking of running it without the filter, would there be any problems doing that, perhaps with the check valve in the filter?

It will work without the one way valve and screen but getting prime on an empety tank is a little harder. You can just clean the outside of the screen and it should be good to go anyway.
You may also need to swap out the fuel as it seems to be gelling causing your problems.

Got a new pickup filter and popped it in, fired right up and stayed running. Next startup it had no fuel but I primed it and it ran the rest of the day. Hopefully the problem is solved but I picked up a new fuel filter in case thats clogged too. Thanks for the help!
