753 starting problem.

Hello all, I have searched the forum but could not locate a solution to my problem. I own a 753 C-Series Kubota unit. It has been sitting since last summer as I have not been able to start it. I recently replaced the battery and gave it a try. No luck. I had a friend, "mechanic", come by to help. He had me turn the key and noticed the solenoid engaged and then had me try to start W/O success. He then tried a small amount of starting fluid and it started but would not run W/O him holding the solenoid open. It now starts and will run as long as he is in the back of the machine holding the fuel supply open. We followed the wires to a relay with 2 plugs, 1 to the solenoid, the other to a main harness. There is also a fusible link and the fuse looks good. There are also 2 additional relays wired to the main harness. I assume one of these relays or possibly the solenoid is bad. Any suggestions how I could proceed? Sorry for the long winded post just wanted enough info to start a dialog. Thanks.
 
Have you checked that the solenoid is not burnt out? Are you getting power to the fuel shut off solenoid?
You should get power to the pull coil when cranking and there should be 12v at the hold coil when the ley is turned on. You should be able to turn the key to on and pull the lever back on the engine and it should stay in place till you turn the key off.
Check for power first, if there is power, your solenoid is cooked, if there isn't power it could be a relay

Tazza, thanks for the reply. So I went and checked with someone else turning the key. When the key is turned to the "on" position the solenoid engages and moves the throttle lever for a moment. After a couple of seconds it releases. When the key is turned to "start" the unit wont start, I assume because the solenoid has released the throttle lever. I can then hold the throttle lever open and turn the key to "start" and the unit runs fine unless I release the throttle lever. I can get a tester to check for 12v but have no idea where the hold coil is. Any further suggestions?

There are 3 wires going into the coil. One is ground, one is pull, one is hold. The one you need to loo for is the hold one. See if the power stays there after cranking.
Turning the key to on should even provide 12v to the coil, if it does, your coil is bad, that's why it is not holding.
You can even use a meter. Check for resistance from black to red and black to white. If one is open, it's bad.
