Hi Crew Newby here This has probably been covered. I have a 90`s something 753 600 hrs. Kabota engine. It has some sort of computer controled instruments and starting cycle. If its really cold the read out shows the glow plugs on for 5-10 seconds and I hear the relays click and it fires up at a touch. If the temp is low 40`s to low 50`s the glow plugs do not come on and and I crank and crank with lots of white smoke usually have to get out the jumper cables. Have never used XXX fluid! Is there a way to adjust the temp setting for the glow plug cycle or a way to over ride the auto cycle. The starter may be a little weak from over cranking but it starts great when warmed up or glow plugs work. I would be very greatful for any ideas.

I just wondr if your temperature sender may be faulty?
Does it seem to read correctly when its running and had time to get up to temperature? I only assume the computer uses the main temperature sender to work out when a glow is required and for how long.

Not sure where the controller gets the temp for glow plug activation, but it wouldn't be too difficult to install a push button in the dash to activate the glow plug relay when you need to. The glow plugs should come on when the starter is cranking but usually don't help much due to the air moving.
