753 G series bucket positioning not working

I press the button, nothing happens. I long press it, display says "shutdown". What is the shutdown feature? The manual merely says it's there, but not what it is. Google wasn't helpful either. Any ideas why it's not working? Everything else seems to work, although I haven't been able to test anything auxiliary.

If the machine is new to you, which it sounds like it is. The bucket positioning wasn't standard and most of the machines of that era didnt offer the feature. Rather the instrument panel is one which was used by many different models, so some of the labeled buttons dont actually do what the button says.

After "shtdn" it displayed "58" for a second.

OK the Button Bucket Positioning is in every machine, that does not mean 100% that it is in your as well.
So you start the machine, you press the BP Button and then it shuts down?
What happen if you start and don't press the button?

I have the identical machine and mine displays the same thing if I push and hold the BP button. However, I have no reason to use the BP button since my machine doesnt have the feature. And why it displays shutdown, I haven't a clue. Just for giggles I pushed and held the button yesterday. I continued to hold it and the number 6 appeared. Im not sure why, nothing happened and my machine runs great.
