This is a follow up from yesterdays post about bearing rollers in chain case. Pulled axle today, no rollers missing so they were from previous owner. The axle tube is wallowed out in the seal area at 11:00 position about an inch wide. Strange. No other wear in tube. Seal was packed with rtv at that spot. Inside bearing was extremely loose with cage starting to bend out at spots. Outside bearing ok, but loose. Outside cup has me concerened. I could spin it in the bore with finger. Didnt take much to tap out. Bore looks ok except for torch marks from previous owner. Bearing #104949 Cup #104911. I am questioning if it had the correct cup. I searched the posts and found reference to a 743 that required the same bearing but the cup was 104912. What excatly is the 912 telling me? Is that a larger o.d. then the 911? I think a cup that is .001-.002 larger o.d. is what I need. Any guidance on that issue? Also anyone have a # for the seal? Could not find # on old one. Everything else in chaincase looks ok. Thanks for your help and Take Care
