751 locked brakes

Just got a used 751 , Have read the thread re the BIC controller ? BIC ? Is there a way to override . Supply power to the apprpriate solinids so I may unload the machine off the trailor ? Will start searching for power tomorrow . There are NO lights on the box . And NO hyd to the bucket .Lastly is there a link to a schematic . Thanx , Bruce

The easiest way is to lift the cab, look for the round solenoid on the chain case, remove the two mounting bolts and lift it out. Remove the plunger as well, your brake is now disabled. The other way is to find the pull and hold wires, there are three coming off the solenoid. Black is ground, white and red are the pull/hold wires. One will hold the plunger in place, the other is a high powered winding to pull the plunger back. Do NOT hold power on this coil too long or it will burn out. The coil may already be broken, thats why the brake is stuck ok.
I'd remove the brake first, get it off the trailer then work on it.

Bruce, if there are no BICS lights (panel behind your right elbow as you are seated), then the BICS panel is probably not getting power. Unsure of where that fuse is. Check around the right of the engine compartment as you view it from the rear. Some relays on the left, but seems the fuses are on the right, under a cover. If it's not getting power, I don't think the lift and tilt will work. As far as just defeating the brake function, I searched here but couldn't make the search function work. I posted how to do that a couple of years back. Basically, the brake is a solenoid plunger that fits into a slotted wheel. The wheel is linked to the wheels/tires, so when the slotted wheel is physically stopped, so are the wheels on the ground. The BICS panel must be "fully lit up" to provide power to the solenoid to withdraw the plunger. The plunger/solenoid assembly is between your feet when you're seated. Remove that 6" x 6" plate and you'll find the assembly inside the chain case. Pull the solenoid out by hand, then put a hose clamp around it to hold it away from the sprocket. Then you can put the plate back on to keep the dirt out, and you've defeated the "parking brake." But again, that doesn't get you lift and tilt. Just to insult your intelligence, once you've defeated this, the Bobcat is less safe. Now you are down to the point that a single failure in a drive motor can let the machine roll. Careful, please! My lawyer made me say that..... ---RC
