Hi there good people. First post. Want to say thanks to all the experts on this forum. So far all the questions I have had already had been asked and answered. But my question here is why does Bobcat keep their parts so close to their chest and where would a good place to look for wear items other than the dealer? Maybe I'm spoiled but one can get motorbike parts made in europe and asia literally in hours and the bobcat is built in the US. 3 weeks so far just trying to get a drive belt. It took 6 weeks to get an auxiliary port relief valve that had rusted off. If I had to make a living from this machine I would be SOL. But we only use it to push dirt around on a little dirt bike track. And I hate to double question on a single thread but maybe someone could give some pointers on how to get Bobcats parts PDFs to load. Explorer with popup blocker turned off, still won't load. Had it last year but now no go. No help from their webmaster (try firefox HAH!). I have learned to get part #S prior to ordering parts the hard way.

This isn't that unusual when it comes to parts for construction equipment. Bobcat makes a lot of their own parts instead of using off the shelf. Also the demand isn't high enough for someone to start making generic replacements.
The online parts site is picky I access it fine with Explorer 11 but needed to add the address(bobcatpartsonline.com) to “Compatibility View Settings”.

Thanks OM. Frustrating though. Life is so short and waiting for bobcat parts so we can move forward sucks. Like the Duke (John Wayne) said in The Cowboys "Well come on, we're burnin' daylight".

Bobcat part availability has been really bad since the new revamp parts system came about this last fall. I'm lucky if I get half my stock order in right now. Everything and it's uncle is backordered. Hopefully it gets better soon. As for a drive belt for a 751, any dealer worth a damn should stock that.

Yeah, I don't think my local guys are up on it. Who is a good dealer that may have one? Are the dealers independent or otherwise because my guy will say "so and so doesn't have one, have to get it at Bobcat" which means backordered essentially. Would it be worth my time to track one down? But while I have you guys maybe you could tell me why the premature wear on this belt came about. I know enough to when a part -even a wear item - only gives maybe 5 to 6 hours it means something is not right. I think it has a new tensioner in place but is there something to look out for when I do get a belt to replace on that machine? Repair manual suggests 1 o'clock position then run and recheck sort of thing. Like maybe what a nice shaped bar looks like to pretension the belt with? I'll be soloing in the woods on this mission.

The dealerships are a franchise just like your local chevy dealer, not owned by bobcat. As for what causes a belt to go, it is normally the tensionor that fails or the belt has been ran loose for a long time. 5-6 means something isn't right, that belt should last thousands of hours. If the tension has been replaced, it should be the new style. Take a 3' bar and pry the tensionor to 3 o'clock. I should ask which engine you have, what I just said is for the Kubota. The Peugeot has a different set up with an adjusting bolt and you need a bar with a fish tap to set. It is a screwy set to explain. Only other thing it could be if somehow the belt isn't running straight like the hydro mounting bolts came loose. Personally if you just put the belt on and it failed again, I'm thinking it wasn't adjusted right.

Yes, I'm pretty sure our machine is a kubota and my guess is the belt was not properly adjusted as someone else put it on when the belt tensioner was replaced, not the dealer or someone versed in Bobcatese. I think this machine has been very poorly maintained and ridden hard and put up wet by people who did not own it or give a crap about it. The hour meter only says 862 hours though. It has obviously sat outside for it's whole life as rust is prevalent. Is the hour meter something that fails often or something easily manipulated? Thanks for the tip to check mounting bolts.
