I have a 93 743b which had a very jerky left drive motor only in forward and only when turning. I pulled the left drive motor and it spun by hand very easily when out of the machine turning it by hand withe the stub shaft. I then took the four 1/2 inch drive bolts out. Upon loosening I noticed the shaft would not spin by hand any longer. I also noticed that there was a missing o-ring from underneith a cracked backing ring. I replaced all seals thinking I had it figured out. Reassymbled and noticed the motor would not turn by hand again. Reinstalled and the motor barely works forward or backward now. Please help.

The motors should not turn by hand. You generally need a wrench to get them to rotate. Is it possible something was not put back in correctly?

Depending on if your gerotor is good, Loader Parts Source Inc. can rebuild those. www.loaderpartssource.com

It wound up being the brass plug on the back plate had fallen out in the parts washer. Thanks to a helpful tech at Bobcat I found it. Thanks for the help. I did learn as you said that you shouldn't be able to turn the motor which helped to reasure me that the motor probably was not bad. I mainly deal with motors and am used to a 1.5 thou oil clearance so this was new to me. Thanks again everything works as it should now.

Glad you got it sorted out. They are simple in design, but as you found, they have tight tollerences.
