hi.. I have a 1991 bobcat 743b with the Kubota diesel in it. I tested the antifreeze yesterday and it tested to -10 and its been getting close to that at night around here.Today I drained out a gallon and put in a new gallon of antifreeze(strait antifreeze not the mixed stuff). I ran it for a long time to try and circulate it in but I don't think I'm getting hot enough to open the thermostat. Any tips? I tried covering the radiator like on a car with little effect. Ran it for about a hour but its only about 10 degrees out and the temp guage isn't getting past the middle of the dial. I can feel heat off of the top hose but not on the bottom hose thanx for your help!

diesels run cool. you need to work the machine to get it get generate some good heat. just idling does not do much.
I would think you will be fine. Most systems circulate a small amount even if thermostat isn’t open. Your coolant that tests -10 won’t freeze solid at that most ratings are slush points. If you are worried an engine block heater would keep it thawed

I;m with farmshop here too, there is a small hole in the thermostat, it will have allowed some coolant to still move, so it did mix, maybe not as well as you had hoped, but i think it should be ok.
