my fuel shut off valve will not open with the key. if i turn the key on and manual pull it back it will hold it open so think its getting power, the one that is on there is a number 681513 which i think is for a 753. the old bob cat part number was 6559117 with the new bobcat number is 7024822. looks as though the one i have on there is to long. tried to adjust it but couldnt get it to open,, does anyone know if the 6559117 is shorter or should the 68513 work. thanks

They normally work by having a steady voltage feed to the hold coil while the switch is on, and a momentary signal to the pull coil from the starter. If it doesn't pull in when you turn the switch to start, check that you are getting voltage to that side of the coil, if yes, apply voltage from a jumper wire directly to the pull connector and see if it works. If not, the solenoid is probably bad, if the jumper wire makes it work normally, check the wiring going to it for corrosion, bad connections or compromised wire.
Don't leave full battery voltage to the pull coil for more than a couple seconds or you could burn it up, it's a powerful intermittent coil and will heat up fast.

so if im reading you correctly there is only one coil but it gets one strong signal to open then a weaker signal to hold it open. thats makes sense now. thanks

You should have 3 wires, ground, hold, pull.
As you can move the lever back and it holds, you have hold power, i think your pull coil or relay is bad.
I installed a shut off on my 743, non factory key off setup. I wired the pull coil to the starter motor power terminal, so when you crank, the pull coil is enabled, i wired the hold to the keyd power, so when the ignition is on, the hold coil holds the plunger in.
I'd check for power at the coil to see if you are getting power to the pull coil when cranking, if it's there but the solenoid is not moving, i think you need a new coil.
