Well I took delivery of my 743 today, and now I have questions. 1. Should the forward/reverse sticks both travel together? If I push on the left hand stick, the right follows it almost to the point that I can drive straight forward or backward with one hand. The sticks will move in opposite directions, but they will always "rejoin" the forward stick when pressure is released. 2. The auxillary hydraulics don't seem to work. The right stick doesn't want to seem to move in and out. I am hoping to get out tomorrow and lift the cab. Hopefully it is just a shipping bolt still in place. Ideas? 3. How much throttle response should there be. Mine seems to go from idle to full-out with very little room for adjustment. I am supposing that the design is for the diesel to run at max to provide power for the pumps, but I am used to having a fair bit more choice in throttle position available to me. Other than that everything seems okay. I am discovering things as I go along, and I have a lot of learning to do. Thanks all.

Its normal for the sticks to move together, but as soon as you go into a pile of dirt, the stick will push back to neutral.
You're right about the aux, lift the cab, there should be a bolt locking the aux hydraulics out.
There should be a little bit of riim to alter the engine speed, just bump it up and down little by little. You'll get used to it, 1/2-3/4 is about all you will need to run it. Its not very often you need it flat out.

Thanks. So far I have adjusted the parking brake, replaced the back window, replaced the hour meter, installed the aux hydraulics control rod, and am working at putting the operator safety bar and pedal locks back in. Man the parts guy loves seeing my face at the dealership. I still have to drain the hydraulic fluid (I filled it with TDH (transmission, differential, hydraulic fluid) but apparently this is not good for the hydrostatic motors, so I have a new pail of Bobcat hydostatic fluid waiting) and find a way to drain the chain case without tearing the whole machine apart, figure out how to test the glow plugs, and I will be all set. Thanks for the help Tazza.

The only way i have found to drain the oil is run the machine at idle, open an aux hose and pump it out. When it splutters, shut down. Fill with oil, drive around, lift and tilt the bucket, drain again. The biggest problem is the oil stuck in the drive system and cylinders, you simply can't get it all out.
The chaincase you need to remove the front inspection plate, the one that the park brake pedal sits on. You need to pumo the oil out, then mop the mottom out with rags. Sorry, there is no easy way.
