When I got the 743 the parking brake was non-operational. Recently I found the return spring was disconnected due to dis-integration of the angle bracket where it attaches. The nut on brake linkage rod was frozen in place and the threads were speckled with long hardened concrete. After much cleaning and soaking with liquid wrench and wd-40, I was able to get the nut off. I now wish to adjust the brake lever. The owners manual says that after removing the brake lever, to turn the cam pin counterclockwise until the brake pucks make contact with the brake disk. My question is how to tell when the brake pucks make contact with the brake disk? Or how to know if there any pucks left? The 743 is off the ground on jackstands with wheels off and engine out. Is the best course of action to remove the brake assembly for inspection? Thanks, Richard

you are on the right track. pull the assy to inspect. you might have to move the arm on the splined shaft to get enough adjustment.
