I have a 743 that has started leaking from the rear of the aux spool in the valve body, does this spool have to come out from the rear (where the detent assy is) if so I think I will have to remove some of the metal lines to get acess to it. and should i rebuild all of them while i have it all drained I don't know how many hours are in this machine, the hour meter was missing when i got it last year

It does slide out the back. If you remove the front linkage then the rear cap, carefully slide the cap off as there is a spring and balls that are for the detent. Keep your hand around it to stop them flying out. They are cheap if any get lost. You will now just see a spring on a shaft, the spool. It should be able to be drawn out. The metal tube lines are in a nasty position to allow this, but you can generally bend them up and out of the way. Don't try and flex the spool though! it has to come straight out. When its out, replace the quad rings, oil it up and re-install.
Good luck!

When I get this thing where i can get to it should I rework all of the spools or leave well enough alone (if its not broke don't fix it)

do lift tilt and aux if youre to trouble of getting acces do it now the others arent far behind take note the 743 had about 4 differnt valves, parts identifacation can be an issue . what parts you remove may not look the same as what goes in there has been updates, lood for a metal tag or possibly a part # of valve. some of these had a fourth spool that was not used, pictures may help parts dude. also do it in unit you dont want to pull this thing. tubelines are a nightmare. eng removal aids in access and will give you the chance to inspect u joint. tubes that run behind shroud. and replace stat input shaft seal, as well as check pump alingment. this is a whole can o worms but eng can be pulled in 2. lots o luck. if not vibrating. and stat seal is not wet. i would contiune with youre aproach. but place hand on u joint shake and check. and grease 3 fittings.
