before buying your dip stick , ask the dealers parts man if your machine required the upgrade on the dipstick , I don't know if this is what happened to you but there was a problem with the dip stick of early Bobcat Kubota getting hooked up on the crankshaft and getting all bent up , I seen them where I had to really work to get them out and a few that broke off and fell into the bottom of the oil pan , so Bobcat came out with a sleeve / extension that knocks into the block , then you use a longer dip stick , the tube makes sure the dip stick goes straight in and not to the side where it gets hung up , so the replacement dip stick is a bit longer and calibrated to match the extra lenght of the tube
