Hello again was using my new to me 743 again and we have cleared most of my neighbors yard. We were going to dig out trees and concrete post supports with the 909 backhoe attachment. We connected the hydraulic lines and had the 2 ball connectors lined up but could not get the auxillary hydraulics to fully activate. We pulled the right handle to the left and then turned to engine off finally turning the key off/on. Finally pulled the right handle to the left and held it there. What is the proper procedure for activating the auxillary hydraulics and what is the correct throttle setting(i.e. 1/2, 3/4)? I could feel fluid running through the backhoe hoses and it was warm to touch(1/2 throttle).

Right handle to the right and it should lock into place. If you push it to the left, the backhoe will not work. Also make sure the hydraulic connectors are fully inserted. The 743/909 use the old Pioneer style (not the current flat face) connectors. It is possible for them to not fully engage and thus no oil flow. You may not be ale to get the backhoe onto the trailer balls of the 743. In this case, connect the Bobtach, connect the hydraulics, tilt back the Bobtach and raise the 743 boom arms. Now use the 909 bucket, boom or dipper to raise the end of the 909, it will then tilt back and be over the trailer balls. Lower the 743 boom arms and you're ready to dig. I need a bot more than idle, otherwise the 909 is just too slow. Maybe 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. Just enough to have the bucket/boom/dipper move fast enough. And the boom swing on 909s is always too fast! ...karl, with apologies as this forum is not iPad friendly for formatting

Thanks Karl. I can't wait to get back on it and try again. If it wasn't for you guys and this forum I would have never been brave enough to buy the bobcat. Thanks again.

Worked like a charm but then got too dark. My son had the common sense to quit. Just not enough hours in the day to run the thing and my job has been getting in the way lately too. Oh well. Thanks again.
