742B Mitsubishi 4G32 Starter Question

A starter question for the experts. I have a 742B Mitsubishi 4G32 with a minor issue. I could use some advise or help on this one. I turn the start switch to on and then to start and the started does not engage. The easy answer is replace the starter solenoid. But here's the question I have. When I use an old mechanics two wire starter remote switch and connect directly to the starter solenoid. The starter turns over just fine. In order to start the engine I turn the ignition switch on and use the remote starter switch on the solenoid and it fires right up. I checked all fuses and they are good. When I use the bobcat keyed switch in the cab and turn it on and then bump it to start I watch the volt meter in the cab and it slightly deflects. So this, I think, is telling me the switch isn't bad. So if it's the starter solenoid why can I use a remote starter switch connected directly to the solenoid and it cranks over fine? Or is there a problem somewhere with my wiring? Any help or advice on further checks would be appreciated. Thanks
 
In looking at the wiring diagrams for the 742B I see there is a "Starter Relay" identified as item #19 in the diagram. Is this relay separate from the starter and solenoid. I can't seem to find an answer in the manual or find where it may be located. The wiring diagram shows wire#21S going from the starter relay to the starter "S" terminal. Wire "21R" going from the relay to the harness connector, Wire "1C" going from the relay to the "B" terminal on the starter. And wire "10A" going to ground. Should I be looking for a starter relay somewhere in the engine compartment and if so does anyone know where this may be located as all the wires are contained in wiring conduit. Thanks in advance for the help.

I found it. It's a Bosch 12V 20/30A starter relay magnetic. Checked Bobcat website and found part number 6651975 Switch, Relay Magnetic Starter Relay. I'll have to run to my Bobcat dealer and see if they have one Monday morning. According to my troubleshooting this would be my likely cause unless someone else has any other ideas. Thanks and I'll post an answer in a day or two if this was the culprit.

That was the little culprit. I went to Bobcat and asked for part number 6651975 Switch, Starter Relay. It was a whooping $10.00. Brought it home. Plugged it in and my 742B gasser is back to normal as it started right up. The bobcat parts guy said the old relays looked like the automotive ones commonly found in older Fords. But Bobcat went to this smaller plug in relay years ago.
