The gas gauge on my machine has not worked since I bought it 4 yrs ago, and it sure would be handy. My fuses are good, and the repair manual does not tell how to check or repair the gauge. With the cab raised, the sending unit is easily accessible. Who knows how to test the sending unit or the gauge to determine where the problem is ? Thanks in advance

The easiest way to troubleshoot the sender/guage is to jump the sender wire to the ground wire and see if the guage moves....should go to full I believe. If the guage moves then you know the wiring is ok to the sender and the guage will function....time to replace the sender. If the guage doesn't move, test the wiring between the guage and sender, and grounds for both for continuity and voltage at the guage before replacing the guage.

Exactly what i do too. I short the pins out at the sender on the tank, if the gauge does not move it could be wiring or the gauge. Check for power at the gauge and if its there ground the sender wire, if the needle does not read full scale, its burnt out.
