I'm trying to do a tune up on my 742b, mitsubishi gas engine. I've been having a tough time finding the distributor cap. I found another post with a part number, but the cap was about 30 degrees out of rotation to the one I had. the other part I need is the resistor on the side of the coil. mine is cracked. It still works, but would rather replace it since I had to just replace the coil. Does anyone know the ohms? The shop found a similar one in the catalog that had it as 1.3 ohms. thanks

Hi, first to answer your two basic questions. I have a '93 742B. Usually I get OEM parts but we have a new Bobcat dealer in the Spokane area and it is a lot further drive than the old one. I went to NAPA and matched my distributor to an '85 Dodge Colt which has the Mitsubishi 4G32 engine. The distributor was an EP513. Spark plugs are Autolite 66, and I also picked up a new plug wire set p/n 700286. I took an ohm meter to my coil resistor and mine measured 1.5 ohms so I would guess the 1.3 you found would be okay. Recently I replaced my points, etc. with a Pertronix p/n 1943 Ignitor electronic ignition kit and p/n 40511 FlameThrower coil (this combination eliminates the need for a coil resistor). Hope that all helps a little. John
