Following the thread of July 3, 2014 I rebuilt my carb with the Walker kit. The engine hasn't run much better after, and now three years later it is acting up again. NAPA has located a rebuilt unit for me by spec-ing a mid-70s Dodge Colt. The carb model and numbers match the Bobcat's. I haven't received it yet, but I am optimistic it will work. Main question-- the Dodge version is a 2-bbl, and the Bobcat's has one bbl blocked off. Is there any reason I should not use the new carb as a full 2-bbl ?? Otherwise, can I remove the plug from my existing carb, and tap it into place on the new one to duplicate the original ?? Any thoughts are welcome.

Hi, I am out of town so I don't have my manual to look up my carb model and p/n but it is a plain one barrel carburetor. Last time I checked the dealer, a new carb was no longer available. Some of the parts such as the float valve, gasket kit, etc. were still available but the prices have gone up quite a bit. I looked into using the Dodge carburetor and may still do it at some point but the throttle cable set-up and governor set-up would have to be modified. It sounds like you have some sort of modified set-up on yours. For the time being, my Bobcat runs very nicely so I have put a carburetor swap on the back burner (hoping for a fuel injection mod some day :-). If you have a chance to post a picture of your set-up plus the p/n of the Dodge carburetor you are thinking of, that would be helpful. Sorry I don't have more information towards your question. John

The Dodge carb arrived, but it has too many automatic choke components attached that I don't believe I can strip it down to work on my Bobcat. That said, the basic carb is the same as the Bobcat unit, but with two 2 bbl function instead of one. Will send it back and install another rebuild kit.
