ran my bobcat for about 10 minutes today. when i parked it i noticed some green stuff on the ground. then i noticed some antifreeze leaking from the upper left hand corner of the engine compartment and a little but on top of the radiator itself, all on the left side....just a radiator leak or could it be something worse? machine runs fantastic, i don't think i have a crack or anything.

If the engine cooling is the same type as 843 the hoses join the radiator at the back and lower end of the coil. Could be a leak in the upper end of the coil but the first thing I'd check is the cap. If that was loose or bad seal, you'd definitely find fluid in the area you discribe.

thanks, i will check tomorrow. i would also like to clarify that when i say upper left corner i mean as you look at it from the back with the door open.

It sounds more like a radiator leak to me too. If the head was cracked, the coolant would come out of the overflow bottle.

also, it should be ok for light use as long as i keep the coolant reservoir full right? no hard work, just moving stuff around my shop/yard.
I pulled up the parts diagram and your 643 radiator cap is on the right side at the top (looking from the rear). Other than that, it does appear to be set up like the 843. You will need to take the grill off to access the cap. That's just a few nuts and bolts. I'd take a look at that cap and see if the seal is dodgy. If you are confident that the leak is somewhere in the core itself, removing that without pulling the engine may be a real challenge. The engine coolant and hydraulic coolant coils are bolted in a mount above the engine cooling shroud. You might be able to unbolt that whole assemble and wiggle it out over the top of the engine but I know in my 843 there's not enough room to do that. Until you'er ready to really dig into things and have the machine out of service for a while, just keep the coolant topped off and keep an eye on your engine temps. I'd go ahead and remove the grill, check the cap and leave the grill off. That way you can actually check your coolant level looking into the radiator. I don't trust those reservoir bottles.

I found the leak, it is on the top left corner of the radiator, again looking at it from the rear. I saw coolant bubbling out of a tiny pin hole. I can access it very easily just by taking off the cover, it's right there. Is there a way to weld the hole? The coolant is just fizzing out It could have been doing it a while and I didn't notice very small.......how do I know if the thermostat is right? It goes up and down as it should but I'm concerned now. Thanks

If the hole is in the end cap, it probably can be welded. If it's in the tubing of the coil, that's much trickier. Call a couple of local radiator shops and see what they say. You might get lucky and they can weld it while it's still in the machine.

A dab of JB Weld on a pin hole won't hurt. Clean the spot good before you apply. Good thing is that you located it. Hope it's the only one.

you guys really are the best. is it normal for the coolant to be kinda fizzy coming out of the hole? it wasnt like that yesterday but it was today

Removing the radiator isn't an easy job, but can be done. You need to take the entire carrier out, not just the radiator so more stuff needs to be removed.
Trying JB weld isn't a bad plan of attack.

just ran the machine in my garage for half hour to pinpoint leak and saw nothing . the day i saw the leak it was on an incline. but i still saw it fizzing out. today, nothing at all. kinda odd. maybe the hydraulics have to be running more to make it come out?

It may just need a harder run, loading it down to get nice and hot?

when it leaked it only ran for 10 min tops, not working it hard at all. dug with my backhoe attachment last night for well over an hour at half idle, still no leak. must only leak every now and then. very strange.

That is rather odd.. Just keep an eye on coolant levels, see if they change.
