I have an older 643 machine, what is the recommended hydraulic fliud for it?

Depends on who you ask. The dealer will tell you his $20 per gallon Bobcat Hydraulic Fluid.
If it were mine, the same oil that goes into the engine. I'm kind of partial right now to Delo 400 15w-40.

15w-40 wouldn't that foam? Don't you have to use like a 32 or 40 viscosity hydraulic fluid? I thought 15w-40 is engine oil

You need hydrostatic oil not hydraulic, 15W40 works a treat, 15W40, 20W50 any standard car engine oil will do the trick. I am currently running 15W40 diesel engine oil in mine, works great, no problems. There is no reason for it to foam, its a little heavier but it needs the extra viscosity to keep the bearings and wear surfaces lubricated when the oil heats up and thins down. If its too thin you can cause massive damage to your piston pumps. You can buy the rite stuff off your dealer, but engine oil is essentially the same stuff. Its even in the manual to use engine oil if you can't get bobcat's oil
