You can determine which direction the engine should turn if you still have the old Mitsubishi engine, the crankshaft turned whatever direction makes the distributor rotor is spin clockwise.
I checked the old starter and it appears the old motor rotate clockwise looking from the rear as does the new motor . the gage I put on is on the low pressure coming from the filter hose it bumped a couple of time but basicly shows no pressure its 3000 psi gage

If they both turn that direction, your fine in that respect.
at last a end in sight the latest bottom line assume nothing !! , I took the bobcat to a hydraulic shop and the pump was indeed running backwards I called repower specialist and they said no problem they promptly shipped me an extra a adapter to pull power from the flywheel side of the engine , at this point yep every thing worked but the drive controls were backwards after this I moved the hoses on each side of the pump front to back on the advise of the hyd shop opps left to right was then reversed but forward and reverse was okay well back to original hose positions and then swaped the lines to the drive motors I now have a very nice 642 b repowered with 35 hp vanguard very clean with a lot more room in the engine compartment air cooled simpler but man did this project test me mind you the stock 642s come with a clockwise turning motor so I relly don't know what I bought but at least now it is working and I will not be hand loading bees now
