I took the tilt cylinder off of my new 642B today and the cylinder is shot... the piston is galled bad and so is the tube body. I called my dealer and here are the results of the parts costs. Cylinder body........................ $963.58 Piston................................... $63.83 Seal kit................................. $38.27 If i purchase a complete cylinder the price is ........$1065.81 I **** when he told me prices! So I ordered 3.25" honed cylinder tube from outside source and a new piston and seal kit from bobcat. It looks like the rebuild will be $ 250.00 complete when done. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> My quick tach linkage and levers are junk also so I priced them when I had the guy on the phone HA HA HA HA $281.00 per side.

I just bought 2 seal kits for tilt cylinders for my 825. 37.00 bucks each. They DO NOT come with piston seals. How retarded is that?? Silly me, I assumed that a cylinder seal kit would come with all the seals that belong in the cylinder. Now I am on the hunt for seals for the piston with nothing open on a saturday. Frustrating....Glad you found the right parts cheaper than bobcat quoted.

Ponder this Skid'dee , if the tube is scared up too deep the bucket is going to always drift down and how fast it dumps by how deep the scares are , you could be throwing good money at bad ------------alot of seal kts now days come in a gland nut /head kit and the piston kit , some you have to buy the wear sleeve seperate from the two kits

Skiddy, be sure to check the rod for straightness also and the gland bore for out of round. If the piston scarred the tube like that I would suspect the rod is bent and a bent rod will distort those aluminum glands.

Neighbor took his off a 730, ran it to a local outfit that rebuilds hydralics and had them cut the ends off and mount them on on comparable cylinders in stock.Probably better cylinder and I think it cost $750 for two. You may have oddball mounts but worth a try. Scott

nope nope nope the rod is perfectly straight the retube will be with repiston at the same time. the rod has .00045 arc in 18" length. the new tube is chrome lined. the pistons are cast iron so any little piece of **** that gets in the cylinder will score it up. now that problem is gone because we cut a wear ring groove in the new piston.
