Ihave a 1982 bobcat 642, thats runs perfectly for about 7 minutes then when it heats up it starts to backfire and loses power. I replaced the coil and no change. It does not matter what the gas level is. What next? Condensor maybe?

The condenser is cheap enough to replace and keep the removed one for a spare if the problem persists. I have seen that happen on other engines, it will run for few minutes then pop, spit, miss and so on. When was the last time the valve clearances were checked? Is the backfire from exhaust or carb?

I am thinking condenser would be the next culprit.
Something to consider: you can get retrofit electronic pick-ups for these distributors for not much money. Then you can do away with the points and condenser completely.
