Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the brake discs on a 642? I've been unsuccessful at loosening the 1 3/4” nut on the end of the motor shaft. A wooden wedge in the sprocket still allowed too much chain stretch to break it loose. I can imagine making a wrench from an old disk but I don't have one handy. Anyone else have a method that has worked for them in the past?

Ok. Plan B then is to break and remove the two rear chains. This should allow enough room to move the disc towards the motor and rotate it to a position that clears the lobes on the retaining washer. The service manual descibes this but makes no mention of breaking the chains before removing the brake discs. Once on the bench I assume I can loosen the nut on the end of the motor shaft with an impact.

You will need a big impact gun....
Can you get a spanner on it and use the hydrostats to crack the bolt loose? I know people have done this to remove and install bolts that are really tight too.

Breaking the two rear chains did the trick.
