I have my pump out and vane pump off and into first drive pump, and what appears to be brass on the center piece between the pumps has ''scratches'' that can be felt with finger nail, I took pics but cant figure out how to post them, Is anyone interested in seeing the pics to give there opinion?

Minor scratches would be normal and can be removed with relative ease. Heavy scratching/galling can not be repaired easily and parts will need to be replaced. Pics are always welcome and even if you only get a few replies many many more take a look and may add useful advice. Also quality and number of pics can make all the difference.

I agree, if you can feel the scratches with a fingernail, they are too deep. A sheet of glass and wet and dry sand paper will do it.

I can not figure out how to post photos. of the inside of my pump. If any one would be willing to look at pics to confirm that they need replacing I could email them to you. what parts do you general replace in drive pumps? the parts that move obviously , but the center piece that the two pumps bolt to seems to have brass part adheired to steel some how? my email is jchllk @ hotmail

First off a huge thank you to Tazza for letting me send pics to his email and helping me get through my pump. I don't think I could have done it with out him. I stayed up all night putting it back together , after having the pumps out and totally taken apart. A pretty big feet for me since I am more at home bending nails than pulling wrenches. My problem was that the 632 would not turn, so when I fired her up in the shop and it turned around no problem I was so happy , its been down for like 4 yrs, Thanks again

That's just what i like to hear. A bit/lot of elbow grease and things can come back to life.
The thing with these older machines is that they are pretty straight forward. As long as you put things back in the same way as they came out, you really can't go wrong.
I remember the first time i got a machine and pulled it apart, my dad was all concerned as how i'd get it back together? i just said i'd work it out, and i did.

Well I was happier than a ???? Im not sure but pretty damn happy any way, then after an hr or so my 632 just was not turning as good as it did when I first started , Ive run it a couple of times now and it starts out good and when it warms up the turning gets worse. From the start after I had the pump apart the lift and tilt have been noisey and jerky , it was never this way before, when I shut her down I hear air bubbles in oil tank. I don't recall hearing that in the past. I have opened the petcock on oil tank and the oil seems extremely bubbly . So I am sure I have an air problem . How do I deal with it??? And do you think my air problem is my warm oil turning problem?

Give it some time to get the air out. When I rebuilt the pump on my 632 it was noiser than before but then due to other things it hardly was used for a month and was much quieter after that. If you dont need it just start it every couple days , cycle the cylinders and leave it sit.

Check that your port block filter is clean. I don't know if this model has it or not, but the block on the hydraulic pump, there are 3 hoses on the left, behind the fitting of the middle hose is a bronze filter. Make sure it's clean.

Ok so I took out the bronze filter and what do i find but a blue snot,,,, first thing I think is form a gasket , but i did not use any, then I look close and it is blue paper shop rag .I used it to plug hoses and holes while things were apart. obvously I pushed some in to far and did not get it out. I have cleaned the filter and it much better but not as good as it should be . what kind of damage do ypu think I may have done . What do you think can or should do next????

uuh oh.....
Hopefully there was little to no damage. It's possible the wear plates have been marked from lack of oil, but lets hope not.
Is it running better than it did before you worked on the pump?
The thing is, does the chunk of rag look about the same size as it was when it went in to plug the hose? just hoping more of it isn't floating or stuck somewhere else.....
This is one of those times that plastic or metal plugs are ideal. No rags to be stuck in a pipe.
