I just noticed that the 1 1/4" round stock that goes through the top part of the ram that has a bolt through it, is in need of repair. It is not the 1 1/4 round stock but the bushing that it goes through. Is that bushing replaceable. The hole in it is torn out and the bolt just rotates in it about 1/2 " back and forth. I hope the bushing is not welded in. I have not looked that close yet. Have any of you had a similar problem and if so how did you fix it? With out that piece pinned some how the round stock could come out and cause damage. Thanks Steve

Do you mean that the mounting holes on the boom for the butt end of the ram are bad? I will look at mine tomorrow but if the mounting is that bad it should be fixed before you use it again.

The eye of the ram, depending on its age will have a bushing. The older ones didn't, and you need to weld a new boss to the ram stick. You really need to pull the pin and check the end of the ram stick. Is this the pin you mean?

If I knew how to post a picture I would get one up so you could see what I am refering to. The ram stick its self if fine. On the end of the ram there is a hole that the 1 1/4 round stock goes through. Then there is a bolt that goes through the round stock to hold it in place so it does not come out. The outside round bushing is the item that I am talkng about.

Ok the part is in fact a bushing and it is welded in place. To replace it I have to go to a machine shop and have a new bushing welded in. I drilled a new hole 90* from the old one and it should be fine for a long time as long as I keep the thing greased up like you are supose to. Bobcat says they do not have the part and they would take it to a machine shop as well. It is fixed for now !!

Ah yes, the boss on the actual bobtach. I don't understand why they did it that way, when you have any movement it will wear. When i re-built my 743, i modified this section and pin to screw into the pin so it will NOT rotate and slowly wear. With the bolt right through the hole in the pin, it will rock back and forth, not a lot but enough. Also the tollerances aren't tight enough, the pin will pull back and forth again causing wear.
You can get in there with a grinder and grind the old boss out, then weld the new one in, but ensure its inline. Its not as hard as you may think.
