631 I am in Australia I assume the same machine the world over. Some previous owner has done some shoddy work before me. My spool valve bank from top down:- pressure inlet, TILT, has detent LIFT, has detenf AUX, no detent pressure out to valve block. My understanding in the RHS control lever also operates the AUX (bucket open/close/ attachments) so to have permanent flow to an attachment (backhoe for example) shouldn’t there be a detent on the bottom spool valve? I made a call to bobcat here in Aust and they said it was changed. to AUX,LIFT,TILT. So it sounds like I have the linkages for the older setup TILT,LIFT,AUX but a newer spool that's meant for AUX,LIFT,TILT Does any of this make sense? My plumbing and linkages go:- TILT, LIFT. AUX but the spool appears to be for a :- AUX, LIFT, TILT So when I re-install the spool valve I suppose I should re-arrange the linkages to suit AUX,LIFT,TILT, and re-plumb the hoses and pipes accordingly. One concern is that the AUX spool with the detent (on the top) should be able to accommodate a flow rate suitable for an attachment that needs it. My pedals are LHS-LIFT, RHS-TILT is this correct for a 631? cheers, Shane, Brisbane , AU

I don't believe they were ever plumbed like that from the factory.
The bottom one should be aux, hooked to the right lever, the next one up (if 4 segment style) should be not connected unless you have rear hydraulic stabilizers run from the left stick. The next one up should be lift i think, the top should be tilt.
The only sections that should have detent should be aux hydraulics and lift so you can put it in float position.
Hopefully some of that makse sense.
You won't simply be able to move hoses around, the lines from the control block are metal, you are in for a world of pain trying to move those around.
I'm fron Brisbane too :)

Thanks Tazza, Great to see you're from Brissy too! I spoke to Tony at Clark (Archerfield) he's the bloke thats been there for years. From what he said my 631 sounds like its s bitza,, possivly some 640 stuff on it. He did say that Melroe changed the spool for a period to AUX-detent, LIFT-detent (float), TILT, from the top dpwn. He wasnt clear because I wasnt clear as I was assuming a whole 631 and kept referring to it as such. But it may have some 640 bits on it which led to Tonys confusion and the different spool type only applied to the 640. What I now can gather is it looks like my 631 spool bank has been changed with the upside down type that was temporarily fitted to some 640s, by someone who owned it before me. Most of the spool valve plumbing pipes look like they have been changed and there are a couple of hoses directly connected to the spools. Inlet and outlet are hoses and 3 hoses going away to some cylinders. There are some metal TEEs hard up against the spool bank for the LIFT, these are a PITA. and should be re-routed to the engine bay floor at the rear Im going to go on the assumption with my spool (top down)as AUX-detent, LIFT-detent,TILT and rearrange the pipes and pushrods accordingly. I recall when I removed it one pair of port openings was larger than the others, I think it was the top one which sounds right for AUX higher flows. I never did like the wild angle the AUX actuator rod was on when connected from the RHS lever to the bottom of the spool bank.. cheers, Shane Brisbane

I guess it is always possible taht it has been changed and is now an offspring to frankestine.
If you can make the linkage changes work, I see no reason why it won't be fine. The aux should have detent as should the lift to put it in float mode. So essentially, you just need to swap the top connection? so your aux will have a detent. Hopefulloy thre is room for the linkages to move to do this.
Access is tight around the control block, especially more so on the older models like what you have.
