New glow plugs and injectors but hard starting and bows gray smoke while cranking even in hot weather. I'm not sure if it's fuel solenoid or the pump

It is possible your compression is a bit low, if the compression isn't high enough, the fuel won't ignite as easy, and will smoke at startup till it gets warm and burns it better.
It could just be valve adjustment, or cylinder wear if compression is lower than it should be.
I had a machine that had about 6,500 hours. It took a lot to get going, puffed loads of smoke getting started, but when running, it would run all day.

Thanks Tarzan. I'll start with the valve adj. It's an older machine with 2600 hours but you never know how the previous owner maintained it or if the hours are correct

I meant Tazza. Damn autocorrect
hehe i knew who you meant :)
That isn't a whole lot of hours, i'd have thought it should still have good compression, but as you said, you don't know how it was treated before you got it.
