I have a 1997 553 and it used to have a problem with the tilt not working in really cold weather until it warmed up for 20 minutes or so but that went away for the most part. Now it is the lift acting up the pedal feels stiff and really wont move there is no lift for 5ish minutes then it will come out of it. It is not really cold outside 30 degrees or so. I am not really sure where to start looking for this issue. The tilt works fine and the bucket grapple works good. It drives and moves with good power and speed while this is happening. Anyone have any ideas or guesses. My garage is my driveway so I would rather have a little bit of an idea before I tear into it. The manual really does not give me any scenarios for this.

That's an odd one, for lift and tilt to not work could lead to a common issue, but just lift not working is odd. You mention the control is stiff, it leads me to think the issue could be the control block, if you really push the pedal, does it still make the lift arms raise? There is a possibility that the detent is binding up in the cap that sits on the lift degment on the control block.
The heat from running the machine may be freeing up sticky grease in there or something. With the machine off, If you remove the bolts on the cap, you can try and use the pedal to see if it's free to move.
