I have a 553 with only 400 hrs (8 yrs old) and the splined connection stripped out that connects the engine flywheel to the first hydrostat pump. I replaced that part and now have loader function and the right side wheels operate normally but the left side has no action. The hydrostatic pump inlet is operating at 70 psi at 2200 engine rpm. (spec is 55 to 85). I exchanged the replenshing valve on the hydrostat for the left side wheels with the one from the hydrostat for the right side wheels but did not make a difference. The chain drive set on the left side is in good shape. The steering lever for the left side is adjusted properly. Can I put a gauge or flow meter on one of the high pressure outlet pipes on the hydrostat that is running the left side? I can't find any factory specs for this. Thanks for your help.

Does it bog down when you try and move the left steering stick? Can you feel anything in the lever too? like resistance?

i remember reading in the bobcat manual that you are never to deadhead the high pressure ports as it can damage the pump very quickly.

The manual i read said to hook up a gauge and slowly bring the pressure up. There are internal relief valves, but i agree its not a great idea to just slam it forward or backward.
