Does the hydraulic dip stick on the 2009 Gehl 5240 E actually show fluid when it is full or is the sight glass further down the tube the only reference ?
I cannot determine if the sight glass is full or empty. My log splitter attachment does not work because the pump is not kicking in to send fluid to it. The rest of the machine workes fine; arms raise, machine turns and runs normal.

Also the filler plug( with small dipstick) is dry but only extends down the filler tube about 3 inches.

...should I add fluid until it reaches those two indentations on the short filler plug "dipstick"?

The manual is silent on ythe dipstick and only references the sight glass that I cannot determine if oil is in there or not.

Oil is present in the filler tube down about 10 inches ( just at or just below the sight glass. Hard to tell.

Sight Glass Is The Actual Level
